Welcome Harvey's Hoppers!
Welcome back to a new school year! 2nd grade is going to be challenging but FUN! With the new California Common Core Standards, the expectations of students' ability to express their thinking and reasoning will be an important part of their daily learning. The math and language skills will also increase in difficulty, but TOGETHER we can make this year a success! I believe that it takes teamwork to be successful, and when we work together our students will know they have a team behind them, believing in them, helping them achieve.
Please let me know if you ever have any questions/concerns. I will try my best to get back to you right away (e-mail is the fastest way to connect, but we can always set up a time to meet/phone conference).
So here is to a SUCCESSFUL 2nd grade year!!
Who is Ms. Harvey??
So you may wonder who I am, this teacher that spends all day with your kiddos!
This is my 11th year teaching (my 5th year in 2nd grade) in TRUSD. I am National Board Certified in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts (for those wondering- National Board Certification is a voluntary, advanced teaching credential that goes beyond state licensure. NBC has national standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. The National Board certifies teachers who successfully complete its rigorous certification process). I also earned a Masters in Cross Cultural Education, a Bachelors in Political Science, GATE Certificate, and Mediation Certificate. Essentially, I have been a teacher AND a student for quite a while!
I really enjoy working at Regency Park and have found it to be my home away from home (& my home is very close by, so I may run into you at the store now and then!). I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and 2 dogs. I love to camp, travel, read, cook, socialize and ENJOY LIFE!
I'm excited to get to know your child and help them learn all they can in 2nd grade!
