Welcome Harvey's Hoppers!
Welcome back to a new school year! 2nd grade is going to be challenging but FUN! With the newly implemented California Common Core Standards, the expectations of students' ability to express their thinking and reasoning will be an important part of their daily learning. The math and language skills will also increase in difficulty, but TOGETHER we can make this year a success! I believe that it takes teamwork to be successful, and when we work together our students will know they have a team behind them, believing in them, helping them achieve.
Please let me know if you ever have any questions/concerns. I will try my best to get back to you right away (e-mail is the fastest way to connect, but we can always set up a time to meet/phone conference).
As you may have heard, I am also expecting a new little bundle of JOY (very soon)! I will be out for a bit to take care of my little guy, but I promise I will be back! In my absence I have a WONDERFUL teacher, Mrs. Chernow (whom some may remember from last year, as she was Mrs. Rilea's long term sub). I am confident that your child will have a wonderful 2nd grade expereince, both with Mrs. Chernow and myself. I look forward to meeting all of you and your precious children!
Here is to a SUCCESSFUL 2nd grade year!!
Who is Ms. Harvey??
So you may wonder who I am, this teacher that spends all day with your kiddos!
This is my 12th year teaching (my 6th year in 2nd grade) in TRUSD. I am National Board Certified in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts, have a Masters in Cross Cultural Education, a Bachelors in Political Science/Minor in Psychology, GATE Certificate, and Mediation Certificate. Essentially, I have been a teacher AND a student for quite a while!
I really enjoy working at Regency Park and have found it to be my home away from home (& my home is very close by, so I may run into you at the store now and then!). I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and 2 dogs. I love to camp, travel, read, cook, socialize and ENJOY LIFE!
I'm excited to get to know your child and help them learn all they can in 2nd grade!
